To all the lovers of Clueless, here's some juicy news for you. After first premiering twenty-three years ago, Clueless is finally getting a remake. Who can forget this 1995 teen comedy that starred Alicia Silverstone who played the lead role, Cher. In the comedy, Cher was a diva Queen bee who tried to play cupid in high school love triangles and matchmakers to her friends and even teachers. What we all can remember most is Cher's memorable lines "Ugh! As if!" and "You are a virgin who can't drive" as well as "buggin."
News in the out is that Clueless is finally getting a remake twenty-three years later after the original version of it aired. A representative for Paramount Studio did not make a comment on this, but rumor has it that the new version of Clueless is already in its early developmental stages at the studio.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marquita Robinson, a Netflix writer, has been contracted by Paramount to develop the new version of the script. Clueless is based on Jane Austen's Emma, a novel that speaks of a young lady who plays cupid and tries to give her friend a whole new dating experience and makeover.
In the movie, Cher's former stepbrother was played by Paul Rudd, with whom she eventually falls in love, while Stacey Dash plays the role of her best friend, Dionne. Brittany Murphy takes the role of the young lady who Cher attempts to give a makeover.
This is probably not the first time that Clueless has been remodeled for a younger generation. Dove Cameron, a Disney Channel star will be acting as Cher on Broadway musical show set to open next month.
Alicia Silverstone, who is now 42, recently reprised her cast as Cher for an appearance on Lip Sync Battle in June this year. The famous actress sang Iggy Azalea's Fancy while dressed in a yellow pleated skirt and a matching jacket that made her look iconic.
Being a mother of 1, she said that her son felt pretty awkward when she took him to see the film for the first time. She said that the one thing that he captured from it, despite all the other things that she was worried about as a mother was the fact that he kept trying to give her a French kiss afterward. This she attributes to the part her son saw her on-screen kissing Rudd! Alicia couldn't help giggling and laughing saying that. Her son's reaction was just super sweet.
