Arnold Schwarzenegger's Heartfelt Tribute To Fellow Action Hero Bruce Willis

Arnold Schwarzenegger recently expressed his heartfelt sentiments regarding Bruce Willis' decision to retire from acting.

Last year, Willis' family publicly disclosed that he had been diagnosed with aphasia, a condition impacting language and speech due to brain damage.

Subsequently, in February 2023, it was revealed that Willis had received a more specific diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

As a co-star from the action film "The Expendables," Schwarzenegger shared his thoughts on his friend's retirement from the entertainment industry.

Schwarzenegger and Willis teamed up as action stars in the first and second installments of "The Expendables" film series (2010 and 2012).

Willis portrayed the character Mr. Church, an undercover CIA agent who disguises himself as a businessman operating within a church setting.

Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger played the role of Trench Mauser, a competing mercenary and former comrade of Barney Ross, the leader of the Expendables team.

During a recent interview, Schwarzenegger showered his Expendables co-star with praise, describing him as "fantastic."

Speaking to Cinema Blend, Schwarzenegger said: "He was, always for years and years, is a huge, huge star. And I think that he will always be remembered as a great, great star. And a kind man."

"I understand that under his circumstances, health-wise, that he had to retire."

"But in general, you know, we never really retire. Action heroes, they reload."

In a message posted on the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration's (AFTD) website, the family of Willis expressed their gratitude towards all the fans and friends of the actor for their continuous support.

The statement on the website says: "As a family, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for the outpouring of love and compassion for Bruce over the past ten months. Your generosity of spirit has been overwhelming, and we are tremendously grateful for it."

"[...] Bruce has always found joy in life - and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us."

"We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time."

"Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible."

Emma Heming Willis, Bruce Willis' wife, has been candid on social media about her husband's journey with the condition and how their family is supporting him through his diagnosis.

In a recent heartfelt post, she shared how their young daughter Evelyn has been making a remarkable impact by helping her father. Emma described feeling incredibly touched and emotional by Evelyn's actions.

Evelyn shared with her mother that she had been taking the initiative to research and gather facts about her father's condition during her free time at school. Emma described this act as the most loving and compassionate gesture one could do.
