How to make Bourdain's Bodega Sandwich
The list of ingredients is for two sandwiches, so you can make a night in and surprise your partner with your "cooking" skills.
Ingredients:
6 slices bacon
2 kaiser rolls
4 large eggs
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
4 slices American or Swiss cheese
You will need a plate lined with newspaper. It's a special, very Bourdain touch. And, remember to serve with "sh**ty coffee," as the chef suggested in the book.
Heat a large, heavy-bottom pan, use a grill, and then add the bacon and cook until golden brown and crisp. Use a spatula to place the bacon on the lined plate.
Open the sliced Kaiser rolls and place them face down on the grill for 2 minutes. Let them absorb some of the bacon greases. Then, insert three slices of bacon inside each roll.
Break the eggs into a medium mixing bowl, add salt and pepper, and beat well. Cook the eggs in the hot bacon grease. Top with the cheese, and let it all cook until slightly melty.
Remove the eggs and divide them evenly among the rolls, fold and chop if necessary.
Voila, you're are ready to tease your taste buds, Bourdain style!
