Anthony Bourdain Continues to Inspire Even in Death With Netflix Docuseries ‘Connected’ Desere DavisPublished in November 2020 / Updated in January 2021 Netflix presents a show with a difference called ‘Connected.’ It is a documentary that looks at the science involved in just about everything. From bathroom habits to technology, the way humans are connected is investigated entertainingly. The show’s host and creator, Latif Nasser, used late chef Anthony Bourdain as an inspiration for the project. Perhaps that is why it’s become so popular with Netflix users all over the world. What Latif Gets Up To On ‘Connected’ The show follows Latif as he travels around the world and studies it from different angles. He is a science reporter who is not afraid to admit when he doesn’t know something. He’s also eager to learn new things. Although it only offers six episodes, viewers admire and love ‘Connected.’ Each episode has its own theme. Honouring Anthony Bourdain View this post on Instagram A post shared by anthonybourdain (@anthonybourdain)There is one common thread that connects everything that inspires Latif, and that’s food. That is where Anthony enters the picture. Few shows combine travel and entertainment how this late food-makers ‘No Reservations’ and ‘Parts Unknown’ did. Latif took inspiration from these shows to create his own. He said that before Anthony, most food shows took place in kitchens, adding that Anthony changed this approach. He wanted to do the same with his show – it’s scientific but isn’t confined to a lab. This is one of the factors that made ‘Connected’ such a hit with viewers. Instead of copying other scientists and their shows, he took inspiration from very different sources, such as Anthony. Latif said he chose Anthony because he liked how the chef made him feel with his show. ‘Connected’ isn’t just a travel show. It is about how different cultures feel about science. It also opens our eyes to the things that we may take for granted. Who Was Anthony Bourdain? Born in New York City in 1956, Anthony spent much of his younger years in New Jersey. His family went on vacation to France when he was very young, and this is where his love for food started. Instead of studying full-time, he opted to work in restaurants, honing his skills and gaining invaluable knowledge. He did eventually attend The Culinary Institute of America. After that, he managed many a restaurant in New York City. Eventually, he became an executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles. He worked many holidays and, as a result, did not love Christmas as much as those around him. It was the busiest time of the year, after all. When he did get some time off during the Christmas holidays, he would spend his time with his parents or parents-in-law. Then he would enjoy traditional meals not prepared by him and his team. It was at this time that Anthony started to write about his experiences. His books were praised by critics and adored by fans.
