Members of Anonymous, a hacker activist group, have led people online to believe that they have revealed Greta Thunberg's phone number.
Earlier this week, former professional kickboxer and social media influencer Andrew Tate was taken into custody in Romania after authorities searched his home. He and his brother are currently facing accusations of human trafficking and rape.
There have been suggestions online that environmental activist Greta Thunberg played a role in the arrest of Andrew Tate after the two got into a Twitter altercation.
On Wednesday (28 December), Tate taunted Thunberg by bragging about the number of supercars he owns and the pollution they produce, prompting Thunberg to deliver a sharp response.
Tate then posted a video of himself, in which a pizza box with a company logo on it can be seen on a table. Some have speculated that this helped authorities locate and arrest Tate.
Despite the widespread acclaim for Thunberg's humorous response to the arrest and the belief that she aided in the capture of Andrew Tate, Anonymous tweeted that some members of the group are divided over whether or not Thunberg should be considered a "hero."
The group also pretended to expose Thunberg's phone number on Twitter, stating: "Despite what other admins here are saying about Greta being some hero, we're not all in agreement."
"We believe she needs a wake up call at the moment. So, here's her phone number: 760-706-7425. Let her know how you feel. #AndrewTate #FreeTopG."

Many social media users have responded to Anonymous' tweet by coming to Thunberg's defense and expressing their disappointment in the group, which is widely respected for its stance and actions against Russia.
"Wow. Really? If this is truly her phone # this is disgusting," one commenter wrote.
"Well, I guess that makes it abundantly clear where you stand. Thanks for the wake-up call. His violent, misogynistic rhetoric will never. ever. ever. be acceptable. Blocking you. It's been real," another wrote.
"WTF?????" a third expressed.
However, some people have pointed out that the post is clearly a joke, as typing the number "760-706-7425" into Google leads to a "Rick Roll" number, which is an internet prank number that directs you to a video of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up."
Kudos to Anonymous for their prank.

"Damn, we got some easy to bait people in the comments here lol," an internet user thought.
"Do any of you know how to use google? It's been around a while now," a second wrote.
"I can't believe how people think you're serious," a third shared.
Another person commented: "Anonymous, remember that people often assume you don't have a sense of humor, so it might not occur to them that this is a joke and that this is not Greta's number."
