Angry Delivery Driver Takes Food Back After Customer Gives $8 Tip

The incident involving a food delivery driver and a customer has become a viral sensation thanks to a video recording. The driver declined to hand over the customer's food citing an inadequate tip, which she deemed unsuitable. Despite receiving an $8 tip, the DoorDash delivery driver believed it was unjust and conveyed her opinion to the customer. Unfortunately, the situation didn't improve after that.

1. The Incident Was Caught On The Customer's Ring Doorbell

The delivery driver didn't simply leave the food as expected; rather, she demanded to meet the customer in person and confront him for not providing her with adequate payment. Although receiving an $8 tip might be considered generous for a single order, the driver held a different opinion.

2. The Problem Was The Distance

The driver explained to the customer that his residence was located quite far from the restaurant where he had placed the order, resulting in a lengthy drive for her. In the video, she expressed her belief that the customer didn't understand the distance she had traveled, and as a consequence, he had tipped her inadequately. The driver emphasized the significant distance between the restaurant in Commack and the customer's residence in Smithtown. "Do you realize how far it is? Do you realize you ordered from Commack and you're in Smithtown?" she says in the video.

3. Why Did It Take Her So Long?

The customer expressed his doubt regarding the DoorDash driver's claim that the drive took 40 minutes, insisting that it should have only taken 15-20 minutes. The driver disagreed with the customer's assertion and responded by saying: "I just drove it, it's 40 minutes. It's 12.5 miles."

4. The Customer Asked Her A Pretty Fair Question

The customer inquired why the driver had accepted the delivery job despite knowing the distance to the customer's location. The driver explained that delivery drivers don't receive information on the distance until they have already accepted the job.

5. The Driver Said The Customer Should "make It Right" By Giving Her More Money

However, the customer was not convinced. "What the hell are you looking for? I gave an $8 tip!" he told her. That should have been the end of it, but it wasn't.

6. The Driver Refused To Give The Man His Food

Upon realizing that the customer would not offer any additional payment, the driver announced, "Okay, I'm gonna bring the food back" and retrieved the bag before heading back to her car. This action left the customer in shock.
