An Open Letter To Every Girl Hurting And Healing At The Same Time

Lately, it seems you can’t get a hold of yourself; you seem to have lost connection with yourself . You can’t define who you are or what you want. The future sometimes seems so bleak that you don’t even want to think about it.

You lose control of your emotions easily no matter how much you try to keep them in check.

On some days, you feel like you’re finally getting of handle of everything. You feel much stronger and confident in yourself.

There are days when you really believe that you are moving on and that your heart is healing with nothing holding you back. You are hopeful and can finally take a look at the future.

Sometimes, you even get a glimpse of the light at the end of the dark tunnel.

However, there are also days that make you feel like you are back to square one.

These are the days when you wish to stay in bed all day to belittle yourself and be haunted by your past.

Days when you lack the will to try; when you feel that nothing will get better.

On these days, you are one of the most pessimistic individuals the world houses.

You might ask, “Is this just a relapse or I never really made any progress?”, “Am I healing at all?”,or “Will this pain and confusion ever end?”

Dearest, the way each person moves on is different.

Healing takes time and energy. You also have to be committed to moving on.

Don’t let what others think should be happening or how far they think you should have come make you feel like you are failing them and yourself. No, heal at your pace but be committed to moving on.

A relapse is absolutely normal. Some days will be better than others and vice versa.

So instead of dwelling on what you have not been able to do, be proud of how far you’ve come, of the progress you have made so far.

Focus on the times you didn’t remain roped in the dense darkness of your pain. Recall the times you fell but chose to get back up and be proud of yourself.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Give yourself a break.

It is possible to be healing and hurting at the same time. Almost everyone has been there.

The good news is, many have been able to overcome their pain and find themselves again. You can and you will if you never give up.

Being strong and vulnerable is not strange. Just don’t allow the weaker overtake the stronger. Don’t let the bad days get to you.

Do not constantly think about the bad days. Replace such thoughts with wholesome and happy ones.

If it helps, you can keep a small diary where you write in detail your happy days and moments and how thankful you are for them.

When you are down and the gloom threatens to overtake or you can’t find a reason to be happy, pick up your diary. It will remind you of all the happy times you’ve had recently and help clear the mist around you at the moment.

Whatever hurt you didn’t happen in a day. So don’t expect yourself to heal so quickly. But know that you will.

One day you will look back at these times and you’ll smile. Why? Because you came out stronger, you learnt how to deal with such situations. Your story can help others and if you get hurt again, which is inevitable in this wicked world, you know for a certainty that you can get back up.
