Amber Rose reveals why she's teaching her 7-year-old son about 'periods and sex.'
It's difficult for most parents to know when it's time to talk to your kids about complex topics such as sex.
Some are even clueless about how to introduce such topics to their 'ever-curious kids.'
But on a recent Red Table Talk episode, Amber Rose revealed she has already had the talk about periods and consent with her 7-year-old son Sebastian 'Bash' Taylor Thomaz.

In the show, Rose said she's deliberately frank about once-taboo subjects to normalize them for her son.
She said:
I'm not hiding anything from my son. My son knows what a period is.
He'll come in the bathroom and be like, 'Mommy, do you have your period?'

The model also said Bash likes to offer her a tampon or sanitary towel—even when she's not in her periods.
And Rose would answer Bash honestly.
She explained:
I'm like, 'No, not right now, but I will.' And he's like, 'Do you need a tampon? Do you need a pad?'

The model also said she doesn't feel like Bash is too young to learn about these topics.
She said:
Once he hits 13, and the girls in his classroom are getting their periods, and the boys are like, 'That's disgusting, she's bleeding.'
He'll be like, 'that's nothing … I knew that since I was 6 years old, dude; get with the program.'

The woman's rights activist also stressed the importance of teaching kids the importance of consent.
Using an example of Bash jokingly grabbing her butt, she said:
He's like, 'mom, you've got a jiggly butt.' And he'll just come behind me and jiggle my butt.

But she would gently respond to him:
That's my private area, and you don't touch Mommy's private area, OK?
She added that her son understands that the same applies to other women—including when he's at dad Wiz Khalifa's house.
Following the episode, many viewers have since taken to social media to praise Rose's parenting approach.
One Facebook user:
Such an amazing conversation. My son is 3 & he knows boundaries. He knows private areas. Knows no one can touch his, and he can't touch no ones unwantedly.
I also have a 2 yr old daughter [sic] who I'm currently teaching a healthy 'no.'

Also, the fact that Amber Rose is already teaching her son, at 7 years old, about things periods & keeping hands to himself is [respectful].
It is NEVER too early to teach a boy how to respect a woman.
We must teach our babies young, so we can break the cycle of unwanted sexual interactions/grey areas. I absolutely loved this episode!

Loved this episode. The fact that Amber Rose [is] raising men, not kids... to respect and love women ... is what this world needs!
