Adopted Deaf Puppy Taught Sign Language By Deaf Owner

Do you believe in perfect for each other? Well, if you don't, read on and have your thoughts changed. Over the years, dogs and humans have built a strong relationship. This relationship has proven that dogs are indeed man's best friend. This cordial relationship is shared between a man and his dog, both suffering from hearing impairment.

Nick Abbott is a 31-year-old from Maine who was born deaf and has recently adopted a dog- Emerson who suffers from the same condition as him. Emerson is a black lab mix pup rescued with his siblings from the streets in North Florida when they were just 6 weeks old. After being rescued, they were cleaned, checked up, and transferred to foster-based Maine. His siblings easily got adopted but due to Emerson's condition, he couldn't.

Abbott first expressed his interest in adopting Emerson from NFR Marine in March when he learned about Emerson in a Facebook post shared by Powers. Then he decided to visit the foster home.

"He came straight to me at the door and sat right away at my feet and stayed there," Abbott told WABI.

"So, you can tell he kind of picked me. And I knew right then and there that we would get along and understand each other pretty good," he added.

The rep from NFR Maine wrote on Facebook "I was told that this was fate, and these two belonged to each other"

"This would go down in history as one of my all-time favorite adoption stories. This will be the story I tell people when they ask 'why/how can you foster like that?" the rep added.

After the adoption process was completed and Nick officially took Emerson home, he began teaching his new dog how to communicate using sign and hand language.

"The bond that we have is awesome, we understand each other very well, I'd like to think it was meant to be. He's special," Nick told WABI.

Abbott's mom, Richelle informed GMA about the training process and now, Emerson understands commands of "sit", "lay down", and "come".

"If Nick reaches up and shakes his earlobes, Emerson will bark-it's so cute," she said.

She also added:

"It's amazing whenever they are together, Emerson is always finding a way to lean on Nick"

Nick has created a joint Instagram account with Emerson to document their new life together. He wrote on his Instagram bio "Nick and Emerson two deaf boys and their adventure."

Nick also wrote in a post "please follow Emmy and me on our journey through life together. We will share updates, new tricks learned, and our adventures."

Like a match made in heaven, the perfect pair have formed an unbreakable bond.
