A Fourth Matrix Movie Is 'In The Works'

Great news for The Matrix fans! Finally, after 20 years, it has been revealed that the fourth installment of the saga Matrix is in development.

The news was revealed by John Wick Chapter 3 director Chad Stahelski. He said that the Wachowski siblings are working on the fourth story of the sci-fi tale.

The director released a statement with Yahoo Movies UK saying:

"I'm super happy that the Wachowskis are not just doing a Matrix, but they're expanding what we all love."

"And if it's anywhere near the level of what they've already done, it wouldn't take more than a call to go, 'Hey, we want you to be a stunt guy' and I would probably go and get hit by a car."

However, Stahelski didn't mention whether the Wachowski siblings were eyeing him to be the director or not. He wasn't sure if they wanted to direct the project themselves, although they're behind the follow-up.

But the director did add:

"And if they wanted help, I would absolutely put down whatever I was doing to help them."

If Stahelski gets to direct the new Matrix, it could be a good partnership.

He has worked as a stunt-double for Keanu Reeves on the original trilogy. They remained close since then, and Stahelski offered Reeves the starring role in John Wick films.

When Reeves, 54, was asked if he'd return to his role as Neo, he told Yahoo media:

"That would be a gift. I wouldn't say no to that. Yeah."

Reeves also added:

"The Wachowskis would have to be involved; they would have to write it and direct it. And then we'd see what the story is, but yeah, I dunno, that'd be weird, but why not?"

"People die. Stories don't. People in stories don't."

But will Neo's character go beyond the actor's scope today, 20 years on?

Reeves said:

"I think when you get to revisit a story and continue to tell a story, you're bringing in the past and the work that you've done."

"So for me, it's about placing the emotional state of where you are into who the character is. How do they feel? How do they think? And then putting on the suit, if the costume really becomes the exterior that you fill in."

But we know that Reeves's character dies in the original trilogy. However, the final scenes of the film left the possibilities of Neo returning.
