During an online class, their teacher gave them a break for a few minutes and told them to turn their cameras off.

Instead of logging out, the girl put herself on mute and accidentally left the camera on.

A few minutes later, the girl's teacher heard other students say, 'What is going on? What is happening?'

The teacher, from Bronzeville Academy Charter School, then opened the screen and saw a man sexually assaulting the little girl live on camera.

The teacher immediately ordered other students to log off before calling out the girl's name, asking her to turn off the camera.

She then saw the man, later identified as Cattrall Walls, closing the laptop.

The unidentified teacher immediately reported the assault to the principal and school CEO, who then called the girl's family.

When the girl's father and the school management went to the grandma's home to ask what happened, the girl initially said Walls 'just hit her.'

However, when the principal spoke with her away from the family, she described a sexual assault. She also said it had happened before.

She revealed:

He made me put my lips on (him)… and I don't want my daddy to know, it's a secret.

The girl was then taken to hospital for examination.

Meanwhile, Walls, who was present at the time, denied the allegations. Cops then arrived and took him to custody.

During questioning, Walls confessed to the crime.

He also revealed that he had been sexually assaulting the little girl since she turned six.

Walls is an 18-year-old senior high school student, and detectives said he broke out in tears, saying:

I don't know why. I'm sorry, I'm sorry."

According to his defense attorney, Walls had been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This condition impairs his ability to control impulses.

Prosecutors also said he had been out of jail on bond following a recent felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon.

Before ordering no bail for Walls, Judge Charles Beach said he had several reasons, Walls made the decision to assault the girl.

First, he was 'currently on bail for a felony offense.'

Additionally, the assault was on 'broadcast video… And multiple people saw it, including the teacher.

Beach concluded:

This ongoing history of assault, for approximately a year, leads me to believe this is not something that will just stop because I have ordered it to.

This history and his actions … lead me to believe he's a threat to an individual and the community as a whole.

Walls is due back in court on November 21.
