Sometimes, kids can be incredibly funny and witty. However, some people have also discovered that children can have a dark and mysterious sense of humor, thanks to their apparent ability to communicate with the spirit world and say terrifying things imaginable.
You might have a problem believing this, but there are actually lots of stories about kids seeing ghosts. Apparently, that's because they have not yet been overwhelmed by the social norms and other limitations that restrict us, adults.
We might not confirm whether there is any truth to this or not, but the kids on this list came up with eerily terrifying stories all on their own.
These are the sort of things that will freak you out and give you a sleepless and restless night. We even have kids that love their parents so much that they want to cut off a piece of them to carry around as a keepsake.
We also have kids who can see creepy things nobody else can see. Once you see these stories, you will never see kids in the same light again.
They may look innocent and all, but kids can say some of the scariest things you have ever heard.
1. "That's My Special Friend"
Someone was hanging out with their sister, her husband, and her niece, who was two years old. They were having a conversation about their departed loved ones.
The brother-in-law went and came back with a picture of his mother, who had passed away when he was only six.
After the little girl saw the picture, she burst out laughing. Everyone was curious as to why the two-year-old found the photo so funny.
When asked why she was laughing, all she said was, "that's my special friend who sings to me."
2. Not Under The Bed Anymore
A kid was insisting there was something under the bed. After checking and finding out there was nothing (big surprise), the parent told the kid to go back to bed because there was nothing there.
However, the answer the child gave was never to be forgotten:
"He's behind you now."
3. The Other Mommy
As a mom was walking next to an old cemetery with their 3-year-old son, he casually said, "My brother is in there."
Puzzled, she reminded him that he did not have a brother, but he had an explanation:
"No, Mama… from before. When the other lady was my mommy."
4. This Time It's Good Bye
As many good dads do, this dad was tucking in his two-year-old when he said, "Goodbye, dad."
He corrected the kid, telling them, "We say good night." However, the boy said, "I know. But this time, it's goodbye."
The dad had a problem falling asleep and kept checking on the boy to make sure he was okay.
5. The Big Guys
An aunt was in a car accident while carrying her 4-year-old nephew and an infant niece. A drunk driver rammed into them and destroyed their car.
They ended up in the hospital, and when the kids' granny got to the hospital, the boy asked her if she would say thank you to the big guys.
Curious, granny asked: "What big guys, Kaiden?"
The boy answered, saying, "Grammy, the big guys that were in the car with me when it got loud and scary, and they hugged me with their arms and kept me safe."
The most curious thing about the incident was that nobody explained how the boy got away from the wreckage without so much as a scratch. Not even the insurance adjuster could explain this puzzling fact.
6. Little Brother Feeling Unwell
A mom got pregnant, and her 2-year-old hugged her belly and said, "Little brother is sick."
After a few days, she had a miscarriage.
7. Already Learned That In Another Life
A parent was teaching their son about growing potatoes, explaining that the earth should be banked around the plants as they grew.
Apparently, the boy already knew this: "I used to do that when I was an old man."
8. "I Died… Now I'm Here"
A dad and mom were getting their girl out of the bath one night and were explaining to her the importance of keeping her private area clean.
The girl then casually told them:
"Oh, nobody 'scroofs' me there. They tried one night. They kicked the door in and tried but I fought back. I died and now I'm here."
9. There Is A Bad Man Standing In The Corner
A parent asked her little girl why she was crying, and she said, "Badman." Curious, the girl was asked what bad man she was talking about.
She pointed to a dark corner in the room, and a lamp close to the corner soon fell. They had to let the girl sleep in their bed that night.
10. Ouch!
A girl aged three was standing next to her newborn brother and stared at him for some time. She then looked at her father and said: "Daddy, it's a monster… we should bury it."
11. Mommy Isn't Coming Back
A granny was babysitting her granddaughter during a doctor's appointment, then she told her, "Mama's not coming anymore today. She was in a bad, bad accident. She can't come to us."
The woman was in an almost fatal accident at that time. Nobody in the family knew, but apparently, the little girl knew.
12. A Girl Cried When They Couldn't Celebrate Her 95th Birthday
A girl born two months after the death of her great-grandma woke up one day claiming that it was her 95th birthday. Obviously, they tried to explain to her why she was wrong.
She began crying and said that her name was Irene, which happened to be the great-grandma's name. Her name is Hailey.
The girl stuck to her story for the entire day but could not remember any of it the next.
13. "I Want To Peel All Your Skin Off"
A mom woke up to the face of her 4-year-old daughter a few inches from hers. While looking her right in the eye, she said, "I want to peel all your skin off."
The skin was peeling after a sunburn the previous week.
Still, the words were quite terrifying, and it all seemed like a bad dream.
14. I Saw It Climb In There
While a mom and her son were waiting on their food at a restaurant, the boy started to rub her belly and saying things to it. When she asked what he was up to, he said he was talking to the baby.
She informed him that she was not pregnant, but he insisted that there was a baby in her belly "I just saw it crawl across the floor and climb up into you."
15. He Might Have A Point
A boy told their parent that he thought we lived in a pretend world and that "someone is playing with us." Curious about what the 4-year-old meant, the parent asked what he meant, and he had this to say:
"Well, it seems like someone does things to us, but we can't see them because we are in this world and they are not."
16. Big John Said Hi
Some kids have imaginary friends, and this is considered relatively normal. This boy had an imaginary friend called John, but one day he came, looking serious, and said to his dad: "Big John said he loves you," and then walked away.
Big John was what everyone used to call the deceased grandpa, and he had passed on when the dad was six.
17. Imaginary Friend Hates Being Dead
A girl had a very detailed description of her "imaginary" friend. She talked about the fact the friend sits on her bed waiting for his mom. Apparently, "he's not allowed to go home by himself because of his arm."
The girl talked to the boy and wanted to know what had happened to his hand, and he told her that his mom had run him over. He was always crying "because he doesn't like being dead."
18. That's The Last Time I Died
A 5-year-old boy asked when he would be 23, and he was told he had 18 years to go. Then he said he hoped he didn't die again because that was the last time he died and "went to heaven."
19. The Talking Painting
A family had moved to a new home in a different country, and the bedroom had a somewhat unsettling painting of what seemed like hair flowing freely in the air.
Their little boy was only two and a half years at the time.
However, one day the boy said he didn't want to sleep in the room because the painting looks at him and tries to talk to him. "I don't like it," he explained.
20. The Little Invisible Town On A Cemetry
A parent used to drive with her daughter past an old cemetery every day, and she would say that people were waving at her. She was told that there was nobody there and told what a cemetery was.
However, she insisted there were people there, a school and a store; and that the people would wave at her. She stuck to her story for months, and the parent shared the story with a work colleague who did some research and found out more about the site.
Apparently, soldiers fought there and were buried at the site. Also, the place had a small town with a school, a little store, and some people lived there.
Later, the girl said there was a lady "in there" who was inviting the young girl in. That was the last straw. They had to find a different route home.
21. Go With God, Grandma
A child of four often visited grandma and spent some time there. When leaving, she would tell grandma, "God be with you."
However, one day, the kid said, "Go with God." She was corrected but insisted on saying, "Go with God."
Grandma died that night.
22. You're A Good Mom
A woman had suffered many miscarriages. One day, her girl said she had met all the dead babies that had died in a dream and that they wanted her to know she was a good mom.
That has to be the creepiest and sweetest thing ever said.
23. The Dead One That Sleeps On The Closet Floor
A girl, 3, was dealing with nightmares for a month or so and said she wanted to share breakfast with the dead baby in the closet one morning. The mom thought she was talking about one of her dolls, so the mom pulled one out.
The girl said, "No, not a doll." Then she said, "The dead one that sleeps on the closet floor at night."
24. The Boy Who Saw The Accident Coming
A boy of around 4 or 5 was getting restless at the backseat of a car then suddenly covered his face with a blanket before saying: "I don't want to get glass on my face!"
A short while later, a pickup truck got hit just ahead of them. Luckily, they avoided a collision.
25. Nail Them To The Crosses
Someone recalls an incident that happened when they were three years old. They had a cat that had stillborn kittens.
After requesting dad to make crosses for them, he did, but they asked, "Aren't those too small?"
The dad was curious and asked what they meant before the kid asked, "Aren't we going to nail them to them?" The dad said, "We're not going to do that."
26. "We're All Gonna Die!!!"
A boy was accompanying their parent on a flight. As the plane was taking off, it hit a couple of bumps, and the boy yelled, "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!"
27. The Lady In My Bedroom
A three-year-old was singing as he was coloring. The parent was curious about the song because it sounded unfamiliar.
When asked where he learned the song, he said that "the lady in my bedroom sang it to me."
28. "She's Standing Right Next To You!"
A mom had just lost her best friend and was lying on the desk crying when the daughter walked in and asked what was wrong. She told her 8-year-old that a friend had died and she was missing her so much.
The girl reassured her, saying: "Don't be sad, mommy, she's standing right next to you!"
29. The Man In The Wardrobe
Someone recounted an incident that happened when they were four. The mom had found her in the bathroom with all her Barbies trying to make them float face down in the bath.
When mom asked what she was up to, she said, "The man in the wardrobe told me if I didn't do it, it would be my turn to swim face down."
30. Already Knew He Was Dead
After a boy's grandpa passed away, he had to stay at his grandma's for a night as they handled everything. One of their concerns was how to tell the boy grandpa had died.
Strangely, he already knew about his death. He said that grandpa and his war buddies taught him to play poker because he was alone.
He has been a great poker player since then.
31. "I Miss My Other Family"
One day, a 6-year-old girl came home in tears saying that he missed his other family. It was assumed that she was talking about her grandparents or some close friends or relatives.
However, she said she was talking about her "alien robot family." Apparently, she had lived with them in the sky before getting into her mom's tummy.
She had decided because she was angry with the family and had chosen a new family. Apparently, she was missing them and wished to visit them.
32. Take Grandma Instead
A boy of about four was scared of a thunderstorm, and he said, "God, don't take me. I'm too young to die, (looks at grandma) take grandma; she is old!"
33. You Will Die At 33
A girl kept crying and telling her mom that she would die at 33, like her grandpa. The mom didn't remember telling her that he had died at 33.
When she was 33, she was living very carefully, hoping to make it to 34 alive.
34. I'm Not Scared Of Ghosts
A dad was reading his 2-year-old a bedtime story, and when done, they started talking about being scared of monsters and ghosts.
The girl then said, "Daddy, I'm not scared of ghosts."
Curious, the father asked why and the girl confessed: "the one that comes into my room at night and strokes my hair is a nice one."
35. Prophetic Child
Someone recalls pointing to a tree outside their house as a kid and saying that the tree would die. Obviously, people didn't take it seriously, but it fell and crushed grandpa's car the next day.
36. Special Family Moment
A 6-year-old girl was driving with her dad in a car when she told him, "Dad. When I'm seven, I'm going to kill you. No, wait when I'm eight."
Naturally, he was curious and asked how she was going to do it. She smiled and said, "I'm gonna drive over your head with this car."
37. He Didn't Appreciate That
A mom was driving with her son, who was sitting in the backseat. Then he asked his mom who the man sitting with him in the backseat was.
As far as she knew, it was just her and the kid, and so she asked him to describe the man, and he said, "He's just black with red eyes. He's scaring me."
She stopped the car and transferred him to the front seat with her. Then he said that the man looked at her like he wanted to eat her.
38. You Decide What Happens
An eight-year-old boy told his parent that they did not choose this life and could not control how it began, although they can control how it ends.
39. He Can See The Storm
A girl made a picture of "a man in her room" she was always talking about. The man's eyes had different colors, and one of the eyes was gray.
When she was asked why the eye was gray, she said that it was "because he could see the storm coming."
40. We Will All Disappear
A 6-year-old said that we are all a figment of "Jonah's" imagination. Apparently, when Jonah wakes up, we will all disappear.
When asked about Jonah, he said: "He's the one who sleeps. The dreamer in the dream."
41. It's Not Okay To Burn Him?
When a 3-year-old girl was holding her baby brother for the first time, she asked, just to be sure, "So I shouldn't throw him in the fire?"
42. I Chose You
A boy started talking way too early for his age, and he could speak full sentences at a very young age. When he was a year and a half, he told his mom he had begged God to allow him to have her as his mommy.
He would also say things like "I was an angel in heaven" and that he had another mommy but chose this particular one. At the time, they were not that religious, which made it really strange that he would talk about God, heaven, and angels before the kid was even introduced to religion.
43. "There's A Baby In Your Belly!"
A mom had just taken a pregnancy test that happened to be positive. This was going to be her fourth baby.
She left the bathroom and sat on the couch, a little freaked out because nobody knew she was taking the test, not even her husband.
Her son, however, came over to her acting strange, and when everyone was outside, he whispered to her, "Mom, I know."
She didn't expect the statement to have anything to do with her pregnancy, so she didn't know what he was talking about and asked, "Know what?"
The boy said, "There's a baby in your belly!" before running off with a huge grin on his face.
She still wonders how he found out, considering that she had just learned about it minutes before. When she asked how he had known, she just said, "I just knew!"
44. Died All Alone
A girl of about 2 to 3 said out of nowhere, "I died all by myself."
When questioned about what she was talking about it, she said, "Not when you were my mommy, when I lived with my old mommy. She had brown skin, and so did I. The spider bit me, and I died all by myself!"
At nearly 13, the girl is still terrified of spiders.
45. "I Want To Drill Into Your Tummy"
A four-year-old son told his dad that he wanted to drill into his tummy, crawl inside and eat his dinner.
Luckily, he had a good sense of humor about it and said, "The food was ok, but I didn't think it was worth that much effort."
46. "You Look So Different Now"
A woman who used to babysit her neighbor's kid had an interesting conversation with him. He played with his toys when he told her, "You look different now," without even looking up at her.
She was quite puzzled and asked him what he meant, and he said, almost frustrated, "No, a long, long time ago. A LONG, long time ago."
Then he looked up at her face and said, "Well, not that different. You're still pretty."
As far as strange compliments go, this clearly takes the cake.
47. Can I Cut You Open And Look Inside?
A dad was having a special time with his girl on the couch, enjoying warm beverages all wrapped up in a blanket. They were having a great time when she asked if she could cut him up and take a look inside when he died.
The statement made him choke on his coffee, and after composing himself, he answered, "sure." The girl smiled on hearing this.
48. Grandpa Is Watching
A 2-year-old boy told his mom that grandpa George was watching him. This was after she told him to be careful when jumping around.
The boy's grandpa had died when he was two months old, and the boy hadn't really been told about him.
49. You're Going To Die!
A teacher was teaching kids English in Spain, and the kids weren't to know she could speak Spanish to ensure the kids were forced to communicate in English only.
Then a 10-year-old girl came up to her and, with a straight face, said to her, "Te vas a la Muerte," which translates into "you're going to die."
The teacher was terrified, and the girl ran away laughing and smiling after saying to her, "HA! You DO speak Spanish!"
50. Mightier Than The Sword Indeed
A family friend told a girl that the pen was mightier than the sword as she played with a toy sword. She said, "I know, yeah, because you can stab someone in the neck with a pen."

The Barbies Looked Back
A young girl surprised her mom when she told her to throw away two of her barbie dolls. When her mom asked why the girl said it was because they had looked back at her.
Her Thoughts Left Her Body
A family dog died, and nobody really understood what had led to this. However, their 2-year-old had an explanation.
She explained that all her thoughts had left the dog's body.
Like Reptiles
A 6-year-old kid who had certainly watched too much of Discovery Channel asked his mother to lie down on her stomach.
He then sat on her butt and bounced up and down, saying, "we're mating like reptiles!"
It Doesn't Matter If You Are Dead Or Not
Someone was playing with a boy at a summer camp. He was jumping off things onto him.
To deter him from the risky game, he told the kid to be careful: "If you kill me, I can't play with you anymore." That did not bother the kid, who looked him straight in the eye and said: "No, but I can play with you.."
Ghost Friend
A mom was playing with her girl, who was swinging. She then told her to go and push her ghost friend Flossie.
While that is creepy enough, the truth was that Flossie was the woman's great-grandma, who had passed on before she was even born.
Asking To Visit Dead Grandma
A kid was taken to her grandpa's place to visit. Grandma had died, and her name was Mimie.
While there on a visit, the girl played in her grandma's old craft room.
Later, she went home with her dad, and after a few days, she was asking to be taken back to grandpa's place. Among the people she missed was Mimie.
Her dad was shocked and wanted to confirm whether she had heard the girl properly by asking, "Mimie?"
She nodded quickly. That was strange because nobody had ever told her about her dead grandma.
The Boy From The Coal Mine
A child used to talk to her imaginary friend while facing the bathroom wall. When asked more about the friend, she said it was the boy from the coal mine.
Coincidentally, there had been a mine shaft next to the house.
Guilty Of Murder
A friend was playing with a kid who pretended to put him in jail. Curious, the girl was asked why she had done this.
Then she answered and said, "You murdered a 23-year-old woman while she was jogging in the early morning."
There's A Man In The House
A kid was up early to watch cartoons in bed next to a sleeping adult. There were some funny sounds downstairs, and the kid leaned over and said, "There's a man in the house."
Come Meet My Friend
A family lived close to a crematorium, and one day, a 2-year-old came and told his mom to go with him to meet his friend Eric. Apparently, this friend was in the closet and thinking he was dead.
In truth, a 6-year-old boy had passed on a few days before.
The girl grew up with an ability to understand death in ways most people don't. For instance, she also said that some road workers they met searched for a body in the woods after a bad man killed him.
It turns out she was right.
Mom's Head
A mom was snuggling with her son when he told her that after she died, he would take her back home with him, chop off her head and shake out the guts, then put it on his bedside table to look at it before going to bed always to remember how much he loved her.
As creepy as that sounds, it does show how much the boy loves his mommy.
Her First Kill
When a dad was riding with his daughter in his truck, a bug started buzzing around her, and he told her to swat it away. She waited for it to rest on the passenger window before quickly smashing it with her hand.
Then she turned towards him and said, "That was my first time killing something."
Do You Want To Know What It's Like To Die?
A neighbor was babysitting a little girl while the mom was at work. As they were sitting, the girl was playing with her toys.
Then the girl asked, "Do you know what it feels like to die?"
Naturally, the lady said no, and the girl then asked her, "Do you want to?" When the woman said no, the girl told her, "Then leave. Me. Alone!"
Not For You
A boy of 5 offered his uncle a cookie, but as he reached out for it, the boy pulled it back. Apparently, it was not for him but the person standing behind him.
Strangely, nobody was standing anywhere close to them.
A Dog's Ghost?
A girl of three told her mom that she had been playing with a dog in her room. The dog, she said, was brown, tan, and white.
A dog fitting that description was put down two weeks before her birth. She didn't know a thing about it.
Not My Real Mom
An 8-year-old girl told her mom she loves her and then said, "But sometimes I don't think you're you."
Surprised by the strange accusation, she assured the girl she was mom and then asked who else she would be. Then the girl answered:
"Well, sometimes I feel like my real mom was taken away and you are just a creature wearing her skin."
The Girl Who Came Back
A mom had a miscarriage before having a girl. When the girl was three, she told her mom that her real birthday was in September.
The girl was born in January, but September was when the miscarried baby was due.
The Light Eyes
A parent woke up to find their three-year-old lying on their bed next to them. When asked what that was about, the boy said he did it to protect them from the "light eyes" watching them while they slept.
When You Die
A mom was driving with her 3-year-old when she said out of nowhere, "It's ok, mommy." Curious, she asked what was okay, and the girl explained that her stepmom would be nice to her.
That got her even more curious because she was happy in her marriage to the girl's father.
The girl then said, "The one I'll get when you die." Surprised by the answer, the mom asked the girl how she was going to die, and she said:
"A robber is going to come in the window and shoot you."
When she asked the girl if she was worried about her mommy dying, she said no, "Cuz my stepmoms are going to be really nice!"
Pap Did That
A mom was with her 3-year-old daughter while talking to her older brother, Eric, on Facetime. She started to scream and squirm before saying, "Mommy, my pappy is here."
Strangely, both her grandfathers had died before she was born. When she was asked where she had seen him, she pointed to the phone and said he was standing behind her brother, Eric.
As Eric turned to look behind him, her fully charged phone went off, and the girl said, "Papa did that."
All To See Children Die
While on a boat during a vacation, a child got close and whispered, "I want to be a doctor so I can watch children die."
As you can see, kids say the darndest things, and sometimes, the things they say can be totally creepy and frightening.
