Jason decided to have Marine Biology as his college major and that was what he wanted to pursue as a career. He did some field research in the Florida Keys, which were part of his coursework.

Jason grew up in Iowa but was born on the gorgeous island of Hawaii. He was raised by his single mother, Coni, and she did a fantastic job.

Jason has a very mixed heritage - his mother is a European-Native-American and his father is native Hawaiian. What an exotic combination!

Sadly, his parents went their separate ways after Jason was born. He moved to Norwalk in Iowa with his mom. The actor says being raised by Coni has made him a strong alpha male who is sensitive.

He did reconnect with his father when he was a young man finishing his college studies though.

He Is Younger Than His Wife

Jason is happily married to Lisa Bonet despite the two of them having a 12-year age difference.

However, their love story is good enough to make a movie about it. It started when Jason pointed at Lisa when he saw her on 'The Cosby Show' and told his mother he 'wants that one'. He was only 8 at the time.

Forward 18 years and the two meet through mutual friends in a club in New York. Jason felt serious fireworks when he met Lisa. He was wearing dreadlocks at the time because she had the same hairstyle. Talk about having a celeb crush!

He Didn't Want Lisa To Watch G.O.T.

Jason actually didn't feel comfortable with his wife watching his performance in Game of Thrones. He even put a stop to their plans to attend the premiere for the show's first two episodes.

Lisa told him that he couldn't stop her from watching and she did eventually get a DVD of the first season. After that, she was hooked.

Jason says it was the first time that his wife told him that he is amazing. What a couple.

Jason got his first taste of fame when he landed a role in Baywatch: Hawaii and played the character Jason Ioane.

Out of 1 300 hopefuls, Jason - who was folding T-shirts in a surf shop at the time - was chosen. He kept the role for two seasons until the show ended in 2011.

This big break came after Jason was somewhat sneaky - he lied about modeling for Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

Jason noted that after he made a name for himself, there was some stigma associated with his role in 'Baywatch'.
