The New York Post reported the death of 20-year-old rodeo driver Rowdy Lee Swanson. Swanson died from injuries sustained while rodeo riding. It was during the Palo Pinto County Livestock Association's PRCA Rodeo in the Texan town of Mineral Wells when the bull he was riding threw him off. Swanson was also a student at Oklahoma State University, taking up animal sciences.

PRCA Issued a Statement about Swanson's Death

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association released a statement saying Swanson died on Thursday, September 17. The bull he was riding in front of an audience hurled him to the ground and trampled him to death. The paramedics tried to save his life, but they were not able to.

Rodeo Community Expressed Its Sadness Over Swanson's Death

PCLA Rodeo Chairman Scott Fenner expressed the sadness the rodeo community felt about Swanson's tragic death at the Palo Pinto County Livestock Association's PRCA Pro Rodeo. On behalf of the Rodeo Committee, Fenner offered their heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to Swanson's mother, Venessa, his brother Roper, and Swanson's entire family.

Coach Cody Hollingsworth of the OSU Rodeo Team took to Twitter. He wrote a heartwarming tribute to Swanson and expressed his sadness as he announced Swanson's death. Hollingsworth considered Swanson a big part of their Rodeo family and shared his thoughts and sympathy with the Swanson family.

PRCA CEO George Taylor also offered his sympathies to Swanson's family. Taylor said the entire rodeo community's hearts go out to Rowdy's family in this tragic time. He further expressed comfort and encouragement to Rowdy's family, offering to continue praying for Rowdy and his family.

The rodeo event was supposed to occur in April but was held on Thursday because of lockdown restrictions.
