A crocodile named after the famous terrorist killed and ate 80 villagers between 1991 and 2005. The massive 16-foot reptile lived in Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake.

The crocodile liked to wait at the shores of the lake for its unsuspecting victims. After grabbing these people, the powerful croc would drag them to the bottom of the lake.

Some of the victims were as young as 12 years old.

Residents came to believe that Osama was immortal due to his power. One of the villagers recounted how the animal killed his brother before being taken from the lake in 2005.

Paul said he and his brother Peter had gone rowing with him when Osama attacked. The crocodile jumped into their boat and grabbed Peter:

"Osama just emerged from the water vertically and flopped into the boat."

This unexpected move made the back of the boat, where Paul was sitting, submerge. Meanwhile, Peter screamed in pain while fighting off the vicious crocodile.

Towards the end, he screamed that Osama had broken his leg. Paul also heard a tearing sound, and Peter was then pulled into the lake.

A few days later, his head and arm were recovered.

After joint efforts by locals and wildlife officials, the menacing creature was finally captured in 2005. The animal was lured from the depths of the lake using cow lungs.

Osama was not killed but was instead made part of the country's breeding program.

Right now, the crocodile is not considered a threat to anyone since he is well-secured.

Otherwise, Nile crocodiles such as Osama eat humans if they feel their territories are being invaded. With Osama's new home, that is no longer an issue.

As successful as Osama was, Fred, a croc from Australia, was not as successful in his killing attempts. The croc's plans were quickly thwarted when the Aussie man it was going after smacked it with a frying pan.

The man, Kai Hansen, hit the saltwater croc on the snout after it lunged toward him. Although he was about to be eaten by the huge reptile, the man was pretty unfazed by the incident, which intrigued many people.

The croc was eventually taken away. Kai owns Goat Island Lodge, where he lives with a female crocodile named Casey.

Fred was interested in Casey, and eventually, he crossed paths with Kai.
