We often see celebrities all glammed up on their Instagram feed. They don’t look that way at all times every day. They don’t go to bed with makeup on and they wake up looking as ruffled as you do.
Some of these celebrities share what they look unfiltered. So, if you have been struggling with accepting how you look, they might positively influence you. They were not afraid to share what their unfiltered bodies look like.
This X-Men star got trolled for posting an unfiltered picture of herself showing the cellulite on her legs. Although the purpose of the picture was not to highlight that, some trolled her with comments such as, ‘Cottage cheese’ and ‘Don’t forget the gravy on those fries.’
Well, being the queen that she is, she responded:
“What woman doesn’t have cellulite?? It’s not gonna stop me from posting a pic.”
That is a queen where we stand. Whether skinny or chubby, we all have our share of cellulite and it is nothing to be ashamed of.
Being a champion for body positivity, Demi Lovato reminds us to love ourselves. She posted a series of pictures showing her body with the focus on her thighs. She said that even though she has no thigh gaps, she still loves herself.
I wonder who came up with the ridiculous idea that thigh gaps are the norm! Like Demi, love your body no matter what it does or does not look like.
The Modern Family star was born with a condition called kidney dysplasia. Although her father donated his kidney to her in 2012, she lives on medications.
She once took to the Gram to share the toll her illness takes on her in a selfie. In 2017, she wrote:
“I don’t mind when you say I look pregnant. Or fat. Because I know that my face is swollen from medication that is saving my life.”
Truly, it’s not always about taking the prettiest selfies or finding the right angle. You don’t always have to use photo filters to meet up with a standard set by God know who. Despite what life throws at you, you are good enough.
This American model and mother to a cute son with her husband, Justin Ervin, is an advocate for self-love and body positivity. So, it came as no surprise when she shared this image of herself on Instagram. She captioned it:
“I workout. I do my best to eat well. I love the skin I’m in. And I’m not ashamed of a few lumps, bumps, or cellulite… and you shouldn’t be either.”
In other words, flaunt that bikini body. Cellulite is a normal thing. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise—even men have it.
As is the case with some pregnant women, the singer experienced swollen ankles during her pregnancy. She brought her struggle to Instagram sharing a picture of her swollen ankle and asking her followers for help. She did get help. She got to implement an ancient Chinese technique called cupping which helped to reduce the swelling.
Her example shows that it’s okay to share realistic pictures of real life situations.
This reality TV star is known for always looking impeccable. But, she keeps it real from time to time, even sharing her struggles with psoriasis, a condition in which skin cells build up and form scales and itchy, dry patches.
To help others like herself, she developed body makeup for it. So, what skin condition are you struggling with? Eczema? Acne? It is never easy to share these parts of ourselves with others, neither is it easy to deal with. But, it’s nothing to be ashamed of.
Do you worry unnecessarily about your stretch marks? Well, maybe Kourtney can inspire you. She shared an unfiltered side to herself on Instagram, inspiring millions of her fans.
As a mother of three, she does her best to stay smart and in shape. But do stretch marks care? The picture showed stretch marks on her hip region, and she wrote in the comment section, “I love my little stripes.”
After posing for Maxim India, they insanely photoshopped her armpits so much that it looked unreal and unnatural. To show what she really looks like under her arms, this amazing actress took a stand against them by posting an unfiltered picture of herself showing her armpits.
Focus on the stretch marks, not the bruises. Lol.
Chrissy Teigen has no problem sharing her ‘imperfections’ with her fans. She captions the post, “Stretchies say hi.”
Wear your stretch marks like you earned them.
The former Bachelorettestar reminded people that social media isn’t ‘real life’ by posting unfiltered images of herself under the hashtag #realstagram.
There is a lot of truth to her words as social media sets a standard that is actually unreal. It is wise to remember that what you see is often the highlights of people’s lives, not the behind-the-scenes.
Understanding how insensitive tabloids can be on the issue of body imperfections, the Lizzy McGuire star took to the gram to encourage “young girls, women, and mothers of all ages.” She urged them to embrace their bodies with the words:
“Ladies, let’s be proud of what we’ve got and stop wasting precious time in the day wishing we were different, better, and unflawed.”
Asley Graham Claps Back At A Body-Shamer
After sharing a picture of herself showing her backside, a troll commented, “we thought you work out” and Ashley gave the most befitting response.
She countered with the epic response, “Girls with cellulite and rolls can’t work out also?”
Do not let anybody boo you with their narrow-mindedness.
We love how this Orange is the New Black star shunned photoshopping by posting unfiltered pictures of herself in a swimsuit.
She captioned the image below with the words: “Why Photoshop when you this P.H.A.T (Pretty, Hot, And Tempting).”
Dubbing herself ‘voice of the curves’, we love how she flaunts it.
The tennis legend refused to have her images retouched for Harper’s Bazaar. Writing on the topic, she said:
“I’ve been called every name in the book. I’ve been shamed because of my body shape. I’ve been paid unequally because of my sex…In short, it’s never been easy. But then I think of the next girl who is going to come along who looks like me, and I hope, ‘Maybe, just maybe, my voice will help her’.”
You are gorgeous – all muscles, big, bold, and thick.
The actress was proud of her legs as she showed them off on the gram. She captioned it:
“All girls have cellulite. Often, even newborn babies have it. It’s totally normal and not a failure of any kind. Celebrities, adverts, and magazines have GOT to stop editing this stuff out #babebumps Tag someone who has been hating on theirs..”
In the comment section, many tagged themselves to the post. Be it cellulite, stretch marks, or no thigh gaps. You are imperfectly perfect.
Zendaya called out a magazine for photoshopping her hips and torso to make them smaller by posting an edited vs. the unedited version of the picture. Thinner isn’t always better, and practically everyone agreed that she looked better in the unedited photo.
Showing what a real woman looks like without photoshop, Bebe Rexha shared a picture of herself, unedited, on Instagram. She captioned it:
“I probably should of photoshopped my stomach and made it look flat. I probably should of photoshopped my legs to make them look thinner. I probably should of made myself look taller and smoothed my legs. But I didn’t. Society can really [expletive] with you. Here is what a real woman looks like on Instagram without photoshop.”
The former Bachelorette proudly posted a picture of her post-pregnancy body. Her so-called ‘flaw’ brought her son to life, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. In her words,
“I look at my tummy and then I look at his smiling face – and just like that, in my eyes, my so-called “flaw” becomes my greatest gift. #gratefulformysocalledflaw”
Demi Lovato Celebrates National Cellulite Day
She looked gorgeous in a picture she posted on the gram “celebrating national cellulite day.” It came with a powerful message.
“This is my biggest fear. A photo of me in a bikini unedited. And guess what, it’s CELLULIT!!!!”
You too can look ‘celluLIT’ with your ‘celluLITE’. She went on further to say:
“I’m literally sooooo tired of being ashamed of my body, editing it. (yes the other bikini pics were edited – and I hate that I did that but it’s the truth) so that others think I’m THEIR idea of what beautiful is, but it’s just not me. This is what I got.”
You might see pregnancy shoots with the mom-to-be glowing effortlessly.
Well, Amy Schumer went on the gram to let the world know that pregnant women don’t always glow. She captioned the post humorously with the words, “Am I glowing? #hyperemesisgravidum.”
The hashtag was her way of telling that she was experiencing intense morning sickness.
Jessie James Decker
The country singer showed off a bit of saggy skin around her tummy region as “loose mummy skin.” One fan praised her, saying: “Love that you’re showing off the extra belly skin from carrying such big babies. My big bubby was 10lb 1oz and my belly looks like same. I’m somewhat self-conscious of it but I love That you own it and you own your happiness. Thanks for all the inspiration.”
If she is not afraid to poke fun at her own imperfection, you shouldn’t be too.
Jameela Jamil Shows Off Boob Stretch Marks
She captioned the post,
“Boob stretch marks are a normal, beautiful thing. I have stretch marks all over my body and I hereby rename them all Babe marks. They are a sign my body dared to take up extra space in a society that demands our eternal thinness. They are my badge of honor for resisting society’s weaponizing of the female form.”
So, will you proudly wear your badge of honor?
Having been subject to many mean tweets online, it must have been a little difficult for Kendall Jenner to open up about her skin struggles with acne. Even though it was for an ad, that was very brave of her.
A shout out to all brave women struggling with difficult skin conditions.
Rihanna posted an unfiltered picture of herself showing her leg hair. Although the focus of the picture was not on that, her fans did notice, and it showed that not shaving your leg hair is okay too.
One fan tweeted: “Rihanna has leg hair in her Insta post so nobody better tell me [expletive] when I grow out my leg hair this summer.”
Jessica Simpson Skipped A Patch Of Hair While Shaving
She made fun of herself in a post featuring a picture of a spot she missed while shaving her legs. Now, that is a beauty struggle for many, especially brunettes. It’s more obvious on them but even that is okay. It happens.
She showed off her off-duty look to her fans on Instagram, showing her ruffled hair and bushy brows.
This is evidence that you don’t have to look perfect all the time. Speaking for myself, I look perfect maybe once a month, and I really don’t mind.
She captioned the post:
“Took ages to hairspray my hair like that. My shadow is my mood, oh and for those telling me I have cellulite. I know. I own a mirror.”
Probably for those who see her up close and personal.
Whatever you look like – or do not look like- you are beautiful. Own it.
