13 Comics Depicting The Major Differences Between Lust And Love
Published in May 2021 / Updated in Oct 2021
You may never have heard of Farina Farek. However, this incredible illustrator and animator recently made a series titled "Lust vs. Love."
Oh, she also likes anime, Billy Joel, cold weather, werewolves, and deep-sea fish. So, all in all, she's an exciting artist.
Anyway, this particular project was commissioned by College Humor. The work was so interesting and sobering that it had to be shared with lots of other people.
These illustrations demonstrate the stark differences between love and lust. While true love is deep and passionate, lust is all about an intense desire for gratification.
Her illustrations consist of two contrasting situations demonstrating the two emotions. Here, have a look.
1. Their Time With You
When someone loves you, they don't mind spending time with you doing anything. To someone in love, the relationship comes first. However, with lust, physical gratification is what matters the most.
2. Impressing You Vs Caring For You
Romantic gestures can get your heart racing, and so can well-timed sweet nothings. All that is part of lust.
When a person is in love, they will go the extra mile to ensure you are well taken care of.
3. Paying Vs. Making An Effort
Again, lust is mostly about trying to impress, including flashing the credit card or cash. The idea is to treat you to fancy and expensive dinners to win you over.
When someone loves you, they take everything that concerns you, however terrible it might seem.
4. Your Memories Of The Person
If you think about this person, you imagine yourself in a great relationship, then what you have is love. With love, even the most minor things will remind you of this special person.
With lust, the person only comes into your mind when you have something naughty to think about.
5. Their Kind Of Charm
You can laugh at any well-planned joke. However, a person who loves will have you rolling in laughter over the craziest and the silliest things.
6. The Kind Of Compliments You Get
If you only get complimented when you have worked hard on your looks, then that's lust.
With true love, someone will compliment you on your looks when you are wearing nothing but a baggy t-shirt and covered in whatever snack you are trying to enjoy at the moment.
7. Their Kind Of Dirty Talk
Their choice of words as they talk dirty to you can tell you plenty about how the person sees you. If the person has the most respectful and beautiful way to talk dirty to you, then that's love.
However, if they use unrepeatable words to describe what they would like to do to you, then that's lust.
8. How Intimacy Feels
With someone you love, sex will make you feel elevated and at one with the person and the universe. But with lust, you will feel that you are doing nothing but fulfilling your basic primal instincts.
9. You Plan Things Together
For someone who loves you, your opinions matter. With lust, the person's opinions are of utmost importance instead.
That's because lust is selfish, whereas love is selfless and inclusive.
10. Getting In The Mood
With lust, there are lots of turn-offs all around. However, with love, any semi-flat surface will work, however messy it might seem.
11. Doing Things Alone Or Together?
With love, you feel that everything would be much better if done with the other person. However, lust makes it feel like something is much better if done alone.
12. The Kind Of Talk You Have
When all that connects two people is lust, then one party will always try to get all the attention. With love, the person wants to give you all the attention.
13. Always Happy To See You
Regardless of how you look, a loving person will see the best in you. A lustful person only sees your beauty when you are dressed to kill.
As you can see, there is a huge difference between love and lust. Lust is very superficial, and it does not include any genuine concern for the other person.
However, love is deep and affectionate, and it considers what the person is all about rather than how they look on the surface. So, based on this, do you think that's the love or lust you share with your partner?
