11-year-old Covers Herself In Classmate's Blood, Plays Dead

A young girl, 11, survived the mass shooting at Robb Elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, by covering herself with the blood of her classmate and friend. The girl tricked the shooter into thinking she was already dead.

Miah Cerrillo is a survivor, but the horrors this fourth grader witnessed will stay with her forever.

Her aunt and godmother, Blanca Rivera, talked about Miah's state of mind:

"Around midnight, my sister-in-law called me, and she was just crying. I think it just hit Miah. I think everything just came to reality now."

Miah's teacher Irma Garcia was among the victims who did not survive the shooting carried out by an 18-year-old Salvador Rolando Ramos.

The young girl was injured and taken to hospital, but she was soon released luckily.

Her aunt stated:

"My brother said she had bullet fragments in her back."

Riviera, who is a mom of three, said that their job as a family is to be there for Miah in any possible way, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Miah's younger sister attends the second grade in Robb Elementary school, but she was not injured.

Miah's mom told CNN that she took her daughter to the doctor in the morning and offered to let her skip school for the rest of the day.

Miah insisted that she wanted to return to school to see her friends. She went to school around one hour before the massacre started.
