Not even scientists can fully understand creative people, but here's what we learned so far!
Being creative is a blessing, as well as a burden. You're always seeking, thinking, and you're often misunderstood.
Creativity is intelligence having fun.
Albert Einstein
Creative minds are intricate, complicated, and not hard to live with or even spend time with. But you can try to understand them more because they are merely living their true selves.
1. All that daydreaming…
Creative minds are huge daydreamers. It's a way for creative people to explore their imagination and use it for inspiration.
2. Everything's up for observation
Creative types observe people, places, problems, whatever comes their way. They are acting as sponges, always picking up information, and combining them with their imagination.
3. 9-5? No way!
Since these people work when they feel like it, it's hard for them to work the usual working hours.
Creative minds will struggle with simple tasks if they aren't in the "zone." The whole idea of working from 9-5 feels like a prison to them, because their minds need to fire up.
You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.
Maya Angelou
Once they find their artistic freedom, creative individuals will structure their days according to the hours when they're most productive.
4. Fail up!
Most of us fall down, but for highly creative types, there's such thing as falling up.
It merely means they will draw their inspirations from failures, sadness, and other negative experiences.
Though it sounds appealing, there is an inevitable confusion when you're living from your pain.
5. No routine, no habits
Creative minds cannot adjust to routines or develop healthy habits. They need to shake things up continually.
Art, freedom and creativity will change society faster than politics.
Victor Pinchuk
It's easy to understand that these great minds are always searching. And when you're wired that way, your soul is feeding on chaos and complete freedom.
6. Alone, but not lonely
The need for solitude can be annoying to anyone who's dating or is part of the life of a creative individual.
It's not that they are loners; it's about communicating and expressing yourself. And for creative minds, this means a lot of alone time.
7. It's all about the passion
The hardest thing to understand when it comes to a creative person is the need to always keep in touch with their passion.
Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.
Erich Fromm
In a way, these highly creative types are acting like addicts. If a moment requires them to work, they'll leave you and everyone else behind.
8. No track of time
When you ask a creative person about time, you'll most likely get some abstract answer. They lose track of time so lightly, but they don't care, since they firmly believe that there's no such thing as time, it's all made up.
Thanks to their flow state, a time where they express themselves, they can spend hours, even days working. And creative mind won't notice the lack of sleep or food.
9. The big picture
Creative minds are extremely and continuously curious.
The creative adult is the child who survived.
Ursula LeGuin
Their childlike curiosity and the constant search for new experiences keep their spirits young. They're always looking and asking questions. There is a hunger for knowledge, as well as the need to reexamine everything they've learned.
10. Mindfulness as a driving force
You wouldn't think that a person who's always daydreaming enjoys being here and now.
Yet, most creative minds know that clarity and focus are crucial for their expression.
Since creativity is strongly connected to spirituality, it's reasonable why many creative minds enjoy meditating.
If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.
Vincent van Gogh
Highly creative minds aren't easy to understand, but they make the world more appealing, and our lives more exciting!
